A letter of job interest is a letter that someone writes when they want more information about a potential job opening. For example, if someone hears that a colleague with a higher position than them in their office is leaving, they may consider writing a letter of job interest to get more information about the job opening. This can apply to a job promotion or a job transfer.
You may also write a letter of job interest after attending an initial interview to reaffirm that you’re considering the position. You may do the same if you’ve been given an outright a job offer, but not yet had an interview.
Clearly reference the job position in question.
Briefly outline your interest in the position and why you think you’re suitable and qualified.
Politely request any more information that you might require and that you’re open to further correspondence.
Thank the recipient for their consideration of you.

Dear Mr. Brewer,
It has recently come to my attention that Jacqueline K. Cornett will be vacating her current position at the end of the month. While it is sad to see her go, I am interested in filling the post he occupied.
I have been working for Brewer Retail for quite a while now, and I feel that I would be a perfect fit to move into his job and take over his responsibilities.
I know there must be many other people in this office that are inquiring about this position, but I truly feel that I am more qualified than any of them are.
When the time to choose his successor comes, would you please keep me in mind? There is nothing I would love more than progress further up the ladder at B Brewer Retail.
Thankfully,
Lincoln A. Alldredge
Dear Mr. Colter,
I would like to thank you for the recent interview regarding the junior marketing position at Wholesale Furniture Inc. I am most definitely interested in taking on the role.
As we discussed, I have 3 years experience working in the marketing department of Carter’s Garden Wares, so I’m familiar with the process and have worked with many of the same garden furniture items in that job.
I am extremely enthusiastic about the opportunity and feel I can bring a new lease of life to the upcoming Summer range.
If you should require any further information from me, do not hesitate to get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you sometime soon.
Signed
Oliver Dye
Dear Mrs. Tinsley,
I am writing to request consideration for the newly available head pharmacist position here at Nero Healthcare. While I appreciate that you may be looking externally to fill the role, I feel I have the skills and experience for an internal promotion.
On top of the required degree in pharmacy, I also have a degree in business management, which you may not have been aware of. Though I likely haven’t been in the field as long as other candidates, I am explicitly qualified and capable of running the business side of the pharmacy and am enthusiastic about moving in to this area going forward.
I feel that this understanding of how a business should be ran, coupled with my 5 years on the front desk, interacting with customers and working alongside my fellow pharmacists, gives me more experience than any tenured outsiders. They will have to come in, adapt to the way Nero administers its services and build a rapport with staff. However I already know the ins and outs of the pharmacy and I’m well liked by those that work here.
I thoroughly enjoy the environment and I’m inspired every day with the great service we provide the community. I feel if given the opportunity I can provide an efficient, stress free and successful pharmacy for many years to come.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. Please find enclosed a full CV. If you would like to discuss this further I am available any evening or lunch break for an interview.
Sincerely,
Abigail Canfield
Dear Mr. Munson,
I have been made aware that HR will soon be taking applications for a long term sales associate in the female shoes department of the store. I am currently working on a temporary basis in the men’s shoes department, and I am very interested in being considered for a transfer to the permanent position.
As outlined in my original application I was employed for two years at Marryat’s women’s fashion store in Burbank, in the designer shoes section. Therefore I feel I would fit much better in the new role. I am also much more passionate and knowledgeable about female fashion than men’s, and can provide a valuable opinion to customers needing assistance.
I have found it to be very rewarding working at Jubilee Clothing and I’m enthusiastic about becoming a full-time employee. This has been my goal since starting here.
I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
Hilary Beckham
Dear Mr. Keller,
I would like to thank you for your kind job offer of assistant editor of Modern Man Magazine, and formally express my interest in the position.
I have worked at my current publication for 5 years, so I’m eager to move on to something new that can invigorate my passion for the industry. The magazine’s content couldn’t be more in tune with my own lifestyle and interests, making this an exciting opportunity. I am also acquainted with Chief Editor Michael Coleman and would look forward to working alongside him. I have many queries that I’d like to discuss with you, so feel free to go ahead and schedule an interview. I am free at any foreseeable workday evening.
Kind Regards,
Nicholas Pendleton
